Identity Theft Session 1, Session 3
Whether it’s the latest fashion trend, teen pop sensation, or sports icon, the culture of the world is constantly vying for the affections of our families. At the heart of this crisis is “identity theft”: rather than identify with Christ, who bought us with a price, the world would have us identify with its customs and ideals. In this powerful message, Doug Phillips poses key questions that get to the heart of the matter: Who are your heroes? What songs do you sing? Do you prefer the company of weak-minded Christians or strong-minded Christians? Put simply: With whom do you identify? Along the way, he addresses a number of the key identity traps Christians grapple with, including: body piercing, tattoos, dress, male effeminacy, the popular athletic culture, and much more. His basic point is this: As children of God, we should identify with Him and be distinctive. We should seek to be about our Father’s business, not the business of the world.
Developing a Biblical Worldview of Film and Media Session 2
Here is the bad news: We live in the most media-saturated culture in history. Hollywood is poisoning our youth with images and world views which are at war with the Gospel and toxic to our children. Here is the good news: Home Educators are leading the charge to build a replacement industry to Hollywood built on biblical principles and dedicated to "taking every [frame] captive to the obedience of Christ." Now Doug Phillips, the founder of the Christian Filmmakers Academy and the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival, gives parents and students the foundation for a distinctively biblical worldview for film and media. He answers questions like "What is a Christ-honoring film?" and he helps Christian families to escape from the status of media victim, and become cultural visionaries for Christ.

True Story Session 1
Whether it’s documentary storytelling, or adapting a real event to a feature film, the process of weaving together stories based in reality is invigorating. With years of award-winning documentary filmmaking experience, as well as countless projects in the “reality” realm, to currently developing a feature film based on a true story, Ken Carpenter brings his love for real people and real stories to this session that explores successful techniques for bringing true stories to film.

Rite of Passage Parenting - Session 1
When and how does a child become an adult? In our culture, we’re not sure. Family expert, youth culture specialist, and (perhaps most important of all) dad Dr. Walker Moore believes today’s young people are missing a natural, healthy element seen in cultures across the world: a rite of passage, part of the “ancient paths” (Jer. 6:16) instilled within us by our Creator. Dr. Moore uses humor, biblical wisdom, and nearly forty years of experience with families to teach parents how to handle the cultural shift. This preview of his popular Rite of Passage Parenting Conference gives an overview of the four essential skills parents need to raise capable, responsible, self-reliant adults—not kids who never grow up.
The Orphan Heart -Session 2
When Jesus comforted his followers by telling them, “I will not leave you as orphans. I will come to you” (John 14:18), he referred to an ongoing relationship with a loving Father. Many of the hurts and failures we experience as believers occur because the devil is a liar. Since he can’t have our souls, he seeks to kill, steal, and destroy. In this powerful seminar, Dr. Moore uses powerful, biblical teaching and real-life stories to provide both explanation and answers for the problem of the orphan heart.

These principles have now been taught for more than 40 years in seminars around the world. The work of the Institute involves a home-education program, a law school, an accelerated learning program, and over 60 other ministries.

Developing a Christian Understanding of Beauty
Beauty is an attribute of God that reflects elements of His nature in a transcendent way--providing insight and knowledge about the character of God. However, we live in an ugly culture of strip malls, warehouse churches, wimpy subjective art and music and literature. As Christians devoted to the creation mandate and the beautiful truth of the holiness of God, why do we tolerate and even participate in such transitory and demeaning art? Composer and educator Greg Wilbur leads a lively discussion on what it means for your family to view and appreciate aesthetics from a distinctly Christian perspective.

Spurgeon were raised on Scripture memorization. Leaders today such as Billy Graham and Chuck Swindoll still endorse it wholeheartedly. Come learn from Jim Woychuk how Scripture memorization increases brain power and strengthens faith in children. Jim will also explain age-appropriate strategies as well as practical incentives, games, and memory devices to accomplish the task.

Ted's breakout sessions will feature a brief introduction to the Hammer Dulcimer, including some history of the origins of the dulcimer and then demonstration of the variety of music that can be played on the hammer dulcimer. (Guess what? It's not just for folk tunes!) We will leave plenty of time for Q & A so he can personally address the specific interests and questions of those in attendance and we will have dulcimers set up so that the audience can come and try their hand at playing one for themselves. We'll have a great time together learning about this fascinating instrument!
Ted Yoder grew up in a musically inclined family, like a lot of musicians. His whole life has been filled with writing, performing, recording, experimenting with new instruments... But it wasn't until Ted received his first hammered dulcimer as a wedding gift that Ted knew he'd found his niche. Since capturing the title of 2010 National Hammer Dulcimer Champion, Ted and his family have been traveling full time, sharing a passion for hammer dulcimer music across the nation.
