WELCOME TO THE INTERIOR ALASKA BIBLE BEE 2010!

We are excited to be in our second year and look forward to growing in the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord (Col. 1:10) as we seek Him individually, as families, and as a community of believers.

In brief, the 2010 study looks like this:
Level 1:  ages 7-10:  250 Bible verses*
Level 2:  ages 11-14:  Level 1 verses plus 250 verses*
Level 3:  ages 15-18:  Levels 1 & 2 verses plus 300 verses*

*Note that these are VERSES (often within passages), as compared to last year's tally of PASSAGES.

All levels will be doing a family-style study on a book of the Bible; the Shelby Kennedy Foundation will provide the materials along with all needed verse cards to registered participants beginning June 1.

There is also a Timothy Track, in which participants may opt to learn 100 designated verses from each level, corresponding to age.  (This is a non-nationals eligible track.)

Last year, we were privileged to have one of our own from Fairbanks qualify to compete with the top 300 participants at Nationals in Washington, D.C.  We are thankful for the support given by our community that helped make it possible for her to go and know that will help encourage more area youth "press toward the mark" of this year's National competition in Chicago as a part of their "high calling in Christ Jesus"!  (Phil. 3:14)

I was thankful to be a part of Nationals in D.C. as a spectator and volunteer, and it was a distinct blessing to see the grace, humility, and confidence in the event planners,  workers, and participants.  The Word of God was boldly proclaimed, steadily pouring from the lips of the competitors and being eagerly soaked in by many hundreds in the audiences and countless viewers online.  Having been actively involved in the entire process of the inaugural year of the National Bible Bee - as a host, parent of participants, and volunteer - has only increased my respect for the event. 

The Bible Bee study is an extremely useful tool in family and personal discipleship as it provides a framework, goal, and accountability for training believers in what should be an integral part of our walk with God:  learning His words, planting them in our heart so that the Holy Spirit will have material with which to guide our life, affecting us to "be holy, as [He] is holy."  (I Pet. 1:16)
