The Bible Bee "Sword Studies" draw a family into the Living Word. Together, as a family, you will sit at your Lord's feet. Each week all contestants and their parents will be led in age-appropriate studies incorporating Devotions, Bible Study, Scripture Memorization, Prayer, and Family Gatherings as a part of the five-part Bible Bee materials.

You and your children will be led in daily devotions through the book of Colossians. As you do your devotions, we hope that you will find the materials to help you as you seek to shepherd your family.  The Parent Guidebook will also provide ideas, activities, discussion questions and thought-provoking suggestions to inspire Spirit-led and Scripture-based family interactions.

Investigative Bible Study: Each contestant has an inductive study guide, which takes him or her through a daily investigation of the Word. As we take a careful look at what is in His Word we will then use that specific information to draw a conclusion. Step by step, we will allow the Holy Spirit to gently guide us in knowing the risen Christ in His Word.

This method of Bible study will help us hear from God’s heart in His word by directing us to focus on what the text actually says. It will also protect us from imposing our own thoughts and ideas into His Word.

As we begin, will look at the book as a whole to get a feel for what the author is conveying to us. Then, we will make further observations working through the text passage-by-passage, verse-by- verse and then word-by-word.

The final step is to assemble all the data collected and look at it as a whole. Once we have discovered the meaning and the message, then it will be time to obey the word and apply what we have learned to our own lives. The most important thing to keep in mind at all times is to keep our focus on listening to God’s heart as we study.

We are on a faith finding mission, not just fact finding.

An integral part of the Bible Bee is for each age group to memorize Scripture. The Bible Bee contestants will learn the living, eternal Word of God! Jesus promises His followers the Holy Spirit, Who will, "...remind you of everything I have said to you." This implies that we are intimately familiar with what He has said (all of Scripture!).

The Bible Bee Competition is designed to recognize diligence in Scripture memorization at all levels, in warm, old-fashioned, family reunion-style gatherings. The Local Bee Host will provide a Kick-off gathering and a total of three monthly opportunities for all your families to review, trial quiz, and play memory games together.

The Primary age group is accountable for 250 Level 1 memory verses. The Junior Division is accountable for Level 1 verses and an additional 250 Level 2 verses. The Senior Division will be accountable for Level 1 and 2 verses and an additional 300 Level 3 verses. This can be accomplished on the primary level by memorizing 4 verses per weekday; for the junior level 8 verses per weekday; and for the senior level 12 verses per week day.
