Home / Host / Hosting Overview
Your Leadership
will impact a young person's life... Eternally.

Just like the children of Israel, Christian families across America are coming under great attack. Parents need people like Aaron and Hur to come alongside them. They need people who will help them hold their hands up as they attend to the battles that they and their children are facing.

The mission of The Shelby Kennedy Foundation is to help families strengthen their personal relationship with the Lord and dynamically impact the world as ambassadors for Jesus Christ. The National Bible Bee seeks to encourage parents as they disciple their children through in-depth study of the Word of God, Scripture memorization, and prayer.

We are looking for people who share our vision and desire to encourage parents as they ground their families in the Word of God. Everything about our faith has its very foundation in the Absolute Truth of God’s Word. If you are someone who also has a desire to help hold up the hands of parents all across our nation, we invite you to join us by becoming the Host for a Bible Bee in your area.

As a Bible Bee Host, you are primarily responsible for encouraging contestant families as they prepare for the local Bee, organizing supportive summer activities, and conducting the local Bee.

You will arrange for a suitable local Bible Bee venue. You will establish and lead a strong, solid team of like-minded believers who can assist you in planning and putting on events and in helping to raise the funds necessary for hosting your Local Bible Bee. This would include, for example, advertising, facilities, and supplies expenses. We will detail them for you in your Host Guidebook.

We ask that you hold one “Kickoff” meeting and a minimum of one event in each of the months of June, July, and August. The Kickoff is an informational meeting for all the families, so that everyone can be on the same page and get to know and provide moral support to one another. Each monthly event is designed to keep everyone focused and encouraged. There are all kinds of great ideas for these events listed in your Host Guidebook. One of the best parts of being a Host is being with other like-minded families. We want to provide as many opportunities as possible to enjoy one another in the Lord!

Your Host duties will begin when you receive your acceptance e-mail after your application has been reviewed and accepted by The Shelby Kennedy Foundation. This e-mail will outline several steps you will take, including praying and assembling your team, while waiting for your “Host Tool Kit” to arrive in the first week of April.

From the time your Tool Kit arrives until your Local Bee on August 28th, you will be involved in planning and holding the Kickoff and monthly events. If any of your contestants advances to the National Bible Bee, you will be expected to be available to help The Shelby Kennedy Foundation encourage them and make arrangements for their time in Chicago. There is no obligation, but you will also have the opportunity to apply to be a volunteer or judge at the National Bee on November 11-13th.

Our Bible Bee Host Tool Kit will provide you with all that you need. The Tool Kit will have every single step of the preparation and events laid out for you. We have worked with our 2009 Hosts to develop a “turnkey” system. In short, you do not need to “reinvent the wheel”. This enables you to focus on developing the vital human relationships necessary to build an effective Local Event Team and encourage your local families.

You do not need any special experience to be a local Host. If you love the Lord and His children and have some organizing skills, you are probably qualified to be a Host, but you will need to:

Now...pause for just a moment. Accepting the Host responsibility isn't something we want you to enter into lightly. While we have done all that we possibly can to simplify and ease the weight of this position, there will still be a cost.We believe that what you will receive in return is worth much more than the effort you put forth.

Are you ready?
