While we have done all that we can to make the events as simple and turnkey as possible, this position will, of course, necessitate some measure of time from you and your family. To that end, we have done our best to realistically estimate those time demands, so you're better able to count the cost of this ministry.
During the initial months of March - June, we expect that you will spend 10 - 20 hours per month. Primarily, you will be working on publicity and answering questions, with the help of your Host Guidebook and other Tool Kit materials.
In each of June, July, and August, you will have one activity for your local families to get to know and support one another. Adding those to the responsibility of planning the actual Local Bible Bee, we expect that time commitment could go up to 15 - 25 hours per month.
In the month of August, when your Local Bible Bee will actually take place, the number of hours that you could spend is hard to measure. Based on the surveys of previous Hosts, we anticipate that you would put in a 40-hour month. But again, that is based on how you set up your Local Event Team and your Local Bible Bee. There is a measure of flexibility here, depending on the size of your event, the size of your Local Event Team, and the number of volunteers that come forth to help.
In addition to the Host Registration Fee of $250, there will be some money that will be needed to host this event. Based on the surveys that we received from last year's Hosts, we estimate that those expenses, depending on the venue that you find for your Local Bible Bee, the type of activities that you plan, the snacks you serve on the actual contest day, to be approximately $15 per contestant. You will find several suggestions for fund-raising possibilities in the resource material.
We have a tool for handling tax-deductible donations through the Shelby Kennedy Foundation. The arrangements are detailed in the Host Guidebook.
