For purposes of preparation, contestants need the following study materials:
1) Bee-liever's Handbook (see options below under Bee-liever's Handbook)
2) Bible Bee Quiz Cards
3) Corrections/Adjustments to Contest Material
What to Study
The Bee-liever’s Handbook lists a total of 350 Bible Memory Questions (Categories One through Three contain 100 Bible Memory Questions each; Category Four contains 50 Bible Memory Questions) and 200 Bible Knowledge Questions (100 each for Categories One and Two). Guidance as to what should be studied in preparation for the Bible Knowledge Questions from Categories Three and Four is included as well.
Contestants in the Primary Age Group (ages 7–10) will only be asked questions from Categories One through Three; Junior and Senior Age contestants should prepare to answer questions from all four difficulty categories. Each test/round will consist of approximately 50% Bible Memory Questions and 50% Bible Knowledge Questions.
The Bible Bee Quiz Cards are the other important part of the contestant study materials. As mentioned before, the passages that make up every Bible Memory Question are printed on cards. In addition, all 200 Category 1-2 Bible Knowledge Questions will be published in card form as well. These questions are accompanied by the correct answers, but the cards do not provide the distracters that will be used with the questions as part of the competition.

*Bible Knowledge Questions in Categories Three and Four are both derived from the six books of the Bible and their associated introductions (found in the Bee-liever’s Handbook) that contestants and their families are studying: Genesis, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, Matthew, Acts, and Romans. They may also be drawn from “How to Study the Bible for Yourself,” (also located in the Bee-liever’s Handbook). Bible questions that are identified as being developmentally appropriate for younger contestants will be labeled Category Three and will be included on Primary Age tests (as well as appearing on the Junior and Senior level tests).
Bonus Questions
Bonus questions will be asked on both written and oral tests and will not be included in the Bee-liever’s Handbook. They will be comprised only of Bible Knowledge Questions. These questions will tend to be much harder to answer than the regular questions in each category and may come from any book of the Bible. The purpose of having Bonus Questions is to increase the likelihood of a wider spread of scores, thus minimizing the potential of a large group of contestants receiving the exact same scores.
1) Bee-liever's Handbook
The Bible Bee study guide is called the Bee-liever's Handbook. You may use the same guide for all three age groups. It contains four difficulty categories for Bible Memory Questions and Bible Knowledge Questions. These four categories will be the source for all contest questions and the number of questions from each category will be proportioned according to the age group of the contestant.

Printing Suggestions:
Consider printing one copy of the entire handbook for adult use. If you have more than one contestant enrolled in the Bible Bee and want all of them to have their own copies of the study materials, we recommend that you make one copy of the Full Version and duplicate multiple copies of the Study Materials Only Version.

Despite our best efforts, it has been necessary to make some corrections to the Bible Bee study materials that you have received. Please note: In the event that we discover errors on quiz cards that could mislead or cause a contestant to answer incorrectly, we will eliminate those questions from our pool of test questions.
Reading Acrobat PDFs: All of the downloads are formatted as PDFs. If you do not have the ability to read and print PDFs, we recommend that you download Acrobat Reader, a free program that will enable you to read many of the electronic files that we will be sending your way, including the Bee-liever’s Handbook. You may download Acrobat Reader from the following link: http://get.adobe.com/reader/.
Study materials are formatted so they may be printed in black and white. To conserve on paper, you may consider printing the Bee-liever's Handbook as a double-sided document. If you desire, you may save the downloadable files on a flash drive and take them to a local copy shop for printing.

It is very important that the correct version of the quiz cardsis downloaded.
Please Note: Because of the slight variations within different copyrights of the selected Bible versions, Bible Bee Headquarters will exclusively refer to the Bible text provided on these free downloadable quiz cards as the basis for judging memorization questions in all of its contests, both Local and National. Separating the Cards:
Cutting the cards apart can be time-consuming. Consider cutting one sheet of verses apart and having your contestants learn a sheet of cards at a time. Once a sheet of cards has been mastered, a second sheetcanbe cut apart. This technique can yield a double benefit of accelerating the contestant’s learning while spreading out the work load. And of course, older contestants should be quite able to cut apart their own cards!
Storing and Carrying the Cards:
Bible Memory passages grow in length by Category, which means that the cards must grow in size as well. You will find that the Bible Knowledge Cards and the Category One Bible Memory cards are the same size; Category Two Bible Memory cards are twice as long as Category One cards, so when they are folded in half, they are the same size and can be easily carried around together. Category Four cards are twice the size of Category Three cards; when folded in half, they are the same size as Category Three cards and can be carried around together.
