National Bible Bee was incredible, unforgettable, and so meaningful. What sweet fellowship we had with like-minded believers from around the country who love the Word of God! Alex and Brett were such a challenge and encouragement. Bravo to the staff and volunteers--they were a blessing! We definitely came home encouraged, edified, challenged, and wanting to learn and love the Word more! God is so awesome! |

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE BIBLE BEE WINNERS!!! I AM SOO HAPPY FOR ALL OF YOU!!! i know you all must have studied alot to make it that far and then to win! Our whole family sat down and watched the contest on the website; it was so fun to watch, we were cheering on all the contestants, even though we didn't know any of them. Daniel, Truman and Ellen were all my favorites to win, and i was so happy when i found out that they won!! To the other finalists, you are ALL WINNERS!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! |

The last 6 months have been an amazing journey!! Learning so much of God's Word in so short of a time has brought me much closer to the Lord and has helped me to more deeply understand and remember His will and purpose for me. All the verses are wonderful and so helpful to me in my everyday life; it's awesome to have so many of God's words so readily available to me to encourage, comfort and remind myself and others to live like Jesus! Also, I was so blessed to be able to participate in the National Bible Bee contest with my younger sister, Alethea, and together, to learn to trust the Lord more and more to help us learn and review all those verses before the competition and to remember that it's all about Him, not us, and that we're winners no matter what because of His eternal Word in our hearts! The trip brought my sister, my mom, and me much closer to each other through the whole experience! Also, it was incredibly exciting to meet many of the other National contestants and to get to know them and share our lives with each other--it was so much fun to see how they were all so easy to talk to and befriend since we all have so much in common!!! Thank you, Bible Bee organizers, for all your work--it's impacted so many lives in countless ways!!! The Lord will definitely bless y'all for such a program that inspires thousands of Christians around the nation to learn His Word, proclaim it, and live it out for His glory and Kingdom! May we all be rejuvenated in our zeal and efforts to win the lost for Christ!!!! |

Yes, even those of us in Las Vegas have been reached for the Gospel of Jesus and I thank you, Bible Bee for impressing on our hearts how we are to be diligent in teaching our children to "hide God's word" in their hearts. |

I am a parent of a primary contestant and am also a Children/Youth Minister in a local church. Watching my son this summer as he memorized the Word and learned more facts than I can count about the Bible, I was rejuvinated to try to delve even deeper into the scriptures with the kids in our church. He loved being able to write God's word on his heart. We love what you have done and what you have done for our son. We are a home school family and try to give our kids a well rounded education including as much Biblical information and teaching as is possible, but this program just added a new dimension to all that we do. I am in the process of talking to different people within my church to bring this event to our location also, since there is not one close by. Thank you again for the wonderful opportunity you have given my son and my family. |

Thank you for your letter notifying us of Rebekah's eligibility in the National Bible Bee final contest. We have been praying for the last week to discern if the Lord wanted her to attend, and I want to tell you what happened in answer to our prayers. When the Bible Bee first came up, although we thought it was a worthwhile event, we did not have the funds to enter our children. Another family came along and urged us to register, saying they would pay the fee. That is why we initially were involved at all. Although our children worked hard, we never thought either of them would be a finalist. We were both shocked and pleased to find that Rebekah placed in the top 100. Although we do not have the funds to finance this kind of trip, we committed it to the Lord. Rebekah came to me last week and said, Mom, I will be okay with whatever you and Dad decide. I so appreciated her attitude. She continued to work on the verses meanwhile, and stepped up her study, in between her other responsibilities and homeschool subjects. On Wednesday, we had to take my husband in to the hospital for tests as he had woken up Tuesday with severe pain. Tests revealed he had blood clots in his lungs and was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon. The doctor told us it is amazing that he is still alive. He came home Friday and we went to church today and testified of the Lord's amazing "mercies that we are not consumed; because His compassions fail not, they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Given the circumstances of our lives this past week, the Bible Bee situation took a back burner, but I did email a few friends before my husband went in to the hospital to ask them to pray for us as we make the decision. I felt that if the Lord had a divine appointment for Rebekah in Washington DC, He was more than able to provide, but if He did not make it clear to us, there is no way she can go. This morning at church some friends gave us a card. I had emailed her about the Bible Bee, and also about my husband's hospitalization, so I figured it was a get well card for him. Instead, it was a sweet card thanking me for my care and concern for her and a check that boggled my mind. It will not only cover the Bible Bee expenses, but will help with our day-to-day expenses right now or medical expenses, as well. I wanted you to know that the Lord has made it very clear that we will be registering Rebekah for the Bible Bee. And we pray that He will get all the glory. |

When I first read the article “Scripture Memory, A Lost Discipline?” it cut to the heart. It is so true that the Christians in this nation have neglected the Scriptures. Memorization of verses and passages in the Bible is virtually non-existent in this day and age. And, if we don’t know the Word of God, how are we to know how to live? I know that this is so true in our family in particular, and in most of the churches we have attended through the years. Excited about the prospect of having motivation to learn Bible verses, I enthusiastically signed up all of our children who were eligible, and then waited what seemed like an eternity for the materials to come out on May 1. Incidentally, this was the same day we had to take a weekend trip to sign for our new house. By the time we were ready to go, it was done, so the cards came with us on our trip that day. By the time we came home a few days later, two of our children already had the Category 1 Bible Knowledge Cards memorized. We had a lot of fun quizzing each other while we were on the road, in the midst of our busy time. Through the repetition, we were ALL starting to learn the questions and answers. When we returned home, I broke down the materials into a point system, to figure out how much the children would need to memorize each day, in order to finish the required materials by the day of the Local Contest in September. We got to work, pushing to memorize, memorize, memorize. We seemed to be keeping on track most of the time, getting those verses done each day, though sometimes it was a bit like pulling teeth. It was easier at the beginning, as the children picked out passages they already knew or were familiar with. I must admit that I got a bit discouraged when we “finished” the Category 1 cards, only to find out that the children had completely forgotten the cards they had learned earlier, for lack of review. So, it was back to the beginning. This time, we focused a LOT on review, always making sure that a passage learned was repeated the next day, and then within the next week. We slowed down significantly on the new material being memorized each day—most often around 4 points per day. This went very well for a while, until we hit another roadblock: a few of the more difficult Category 1 Memory passages just wouldn’t stick! The children tried and tried to memorize them, but to no avail. That’s when we sat down together and put them to some familiar tunes we knew. Wow, what a difference that made! Now those long, difficult passages became some of our favorites, and so easy to quote, as they could burst into song when asked to recite those passages. It wasn’t long before they didn’t need the song to remember the verse, but it was still enjoyable to sing it anyway. Though our songs were successful in those last few difficult Category 1 passages, we continued to learn the Category 2 verses by rote memorization and repetition. It was mostly successful, when combined with lots of review, but was slow in coming and could be frustrating at times. We found that by experimenting with different songs—children’s songs, church choruses, hymns, etc.—we could find a tune to fit with every passage in the Category 2 Bible Memory cards. Putting all of those verses to songs slowed us down quite a bit, so that by the time the Local Contest time came about, we had not even come close to learning all of the material that would be on the test, especially for the Junior and Senior age group. But, the verses that we knew, we knew completely! They were hidden in our hearts, and I would frequently hear them repeated at appropriate occasions, even by our youngest children, who were not even eligible to compete in the Bible Bee. The Bible Bee has been such an encouragement to our family to really buckle down and memorize passages of Scripture. It has helped so much to have a goal, and to know that others are working on the same materials, experiencing the same struggles and joys. We have grown so much this year, as a family unit, and in faith. And we have all truly learned that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Many thanks to all who planned an organized The National Bible Bee, and I assure you that we will be earnestly awaiting the new materials on May 1, 2010. In the meantime, we still have passages to memorize… |

It is still coming to light, all that we have gained through our 4 months of Bible Bee preparation. Praise God! We rejoice with the finalists and pray that their journey to Washington is rich with God's love and kindness. But we are also rejoicing for every young person who accepted the challange to enter the Bee! Whether they wrote one verse to memory or dozens, God knows each one and has a special plan and purpose for each one. May each child be encouraged to continue to seek Him and tell others about Him and His love for us! |

We are a military family going through our first deployment and studying God's Word was a HUGE blessing to both myself and the children. One day as we came to the dinner table, I was just too exhausted to lead in prayer, so I asked my 8 year old Bible Bee contestant to pray. She said something like this: "God, please help Mama. Somewhere there's a verse....no, there was a question that said that You promise to give "RENEWED STRENGTH". Please give Mama renewed strength, Lord." |

Many of us are rejoicing tonight, while many more of us are heart broken and quite sad. To those who are rejoicing, congratulations!!! To those who are sad because they didn't make it, rejoice! Rejoice that most of you still have next year. Rejoice that you had this amazing opportunity. Even if you didn't make it, I know that you will be blessed for the effort you made to: 1. Hide God's word in your heart (Psalm 119:11), and 2. Study to show thy self approved unto God.( 2 Timothy 2:15). God bless you all! |

Wow! What a great summer this was for our family. It was such a rich experience studying the Scriptures and Bible Knowledge each day. We had many precious discussions about faith in God and what it means to be a faithful, trusting, serving, loving follower of Christ. We had such a great leadership team for our Local Bee and Tammy McMahan, our local Chairman, was so incredibly gifted and organized! She helped make this such a wonderful experience and in many ways, we feel like we have gained more family through this experience. We will miss everyone until next year! Thank the Lord for Shelby Kennedy's vision for children to hide the Word of God in their hearts! I'm sure ALL of Heaven was rejoicing on Saturday to hear the Word spoken through so many in this country. Thanks, also, to Stephanie Ogayonne and her children who helped put Scriptures to songs for almost 200 references! We sing them all the time now. Praise the Lord for that wonderful gift. Thank you, Headquarters, for all the work that went into this project. The blessings will continue to be felt for months and even years to come! |

my story is very similar to riley h. from KS. I am also a junior and the whole summer i was very busy with softball, cleaning the house and also lots of other stuff so i didn't have alot of time to study either. I felt like giving up alot during the four months may - september. I felt like i had memorized hardly anything and that there's no way i'm making it to the nationals, its just a waste of time. but then i thought, "hey, lots of other people must feel the same way, i do, so i still have a pretty good chance. so the last month i studied really hard and I feel really good about how i did in the written test (the oral I didn't do too well, but then again, i don't think anyone did too well),and i can't wait till tomorrow to see the results. I'm so glad i didn't give up, now i know so many more scripture passages! psalm 19:14 let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight o lord, my rock and redeemer |

After a summer crazy summer of being a counsulor at a day camp for two weeks, camp, VBS, a mission trip, along with a bunch of other activities, I didn't have as much time to study as I would have wished. I almost gave up studying about the last week of July. School was about to start and I know I was going to be to busy once it did start. I still wanted to be in the competion, but I decided not to study anymore. About to weeks befor the local Bible Bee, my mom came and reminded me it was only two weeks away! At that moment I decide I wanted to try as hard as I could to learn as much information in the next to weeks as I could. So for the next two weeks I strived to work as hard as I could reviewing the material I had previously learned and learning as much new info as I could. I was really hard considering I am a junior and have a ton of homework. When the day of the competion began, I was so nervous and excited. I knew I would probably not make it too Nationals, but I could do the best I could and glorify God. I had so much fun of Saturday hanging out with people who had also worked all summer to memorize God's word. As I look back on this summer with all the ups and downs I really enjoyed the rewarding experience of participating in the Bible Bee. Thanks! I wish everyone who makes it to the National Competition good luck!!! |

I have been so moved by the knowledge and the image of THOUSANDS of children were speaking the Word of God on Saturday afternoon! The power in that fact is overwhelming to me. And to have my daughter walk away from the bigness of the competition, and to be sad that we don't have one "every weekend" was a personal victory for our family. It has been an honor to be a part of the first year of this awesome event. I look forward to it becoming an annual tradition in our family, church family and school family. God bless you all! |

Thank you for the opportunity you have given our family this summer to be in the Word of God. His Word is truly precious! Our three children (ages 7, 10, and 12) all participated in the Local Bible Bee. Through the Lord's help, much prayer, and perseverance, they all had a positive experience. Just wanted to be sure the National people know that we are thankful for all your hard work and the hard work of all the local chairpeople. Our local bee was fabulous. Lolene Love, Karla Roberts, and Amy did a fabulous job at keeping God's Word the main thing and rewarding ALL participants. Thanks again, Have a Blessed Autumn, |

We had such a wonderful day at the Bible Bee. My youngest son was so thrilled to get one verse that he knew. He doesn't turn 7 until the end of this month and we were all so proud of him. In fact, I was very proud of all the kids that just showed up to compete. Hiding God's word in our hearts is the best thing we can encourage in our kids. To BW, Bensalem, PA - Yes, there are definitely times of frustration. Wow, this is a lot of work! Memorizing can be hard work, and when we think our kids should be doing better, we become frustrated. We started out thinking we could memorize all of these verses because my son has such a knack for memorization, but you soon learn that it takes much more than that. Keep pressing on, and remember, those 20 verses are 20 that she may not have had in her heart before, and now she does! They will come back to her in her time of need, because His Word will not return void! I decided not to "push" because I didn't want memorizing Scripture to become a "burden" in his mind. Whatever they memorize that they didn't know before will become a blessing to their lives, be it 400 or 20! God bless you and your daughter! |

Everything that I touch related to the Bible Bee already has the Lord's fingerprints on it before I get there. Enrollment was higher than I expected. Fundraisers brought in more money than I could have imagined. Students learned more verses in our Vers-A-Thon fundraiser than I anticpated. Volunteers stepped up with joyful hearts. I feel as the discipled did when they witnessed Jesus heal a deaf-mute. "... [I am] astonished beyond measure." Mark 7:37 |

You will be rewarded! 1 Cor. 15:58 b says "Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." Keep up the good work!! |

Thank you so much for all that you're doing at the Bible Bee! I know that if it were not for you I never would have been able to memorize this many verses in just 4 months. This is my first Bible Bee and I am so glad that I can participate! Thanks to all of the volunteers, churches, and others helping in the Bible Bee ministry! God bless you all! |

It has been such a blessing to participate in the Bible Bee! As everyone nears September 12 , remember that its not how you start, but how you finish. Don't be discouraged about the amount of Bible verses that you haven't learned. Remember how many verses you have learned. Just keep on doing a little bit every day. Keep up the good work! |

Seeing all these testimonies of likeminded God followers around the country that are hyped about God and His AWESOME Word makes me happy as well as encouraged! This Bible Bee really is a BIG challenge, and I've been really overwhelmed at times, but whether you win or not, the real prize is knowing the Bible by heart! I'm glad for the Bible Bee - it builds a solid foundation for a Godly and Biblical world view! I've also been convicted to read and study the Bible more! Thank you all SO MUCH! |

HI! I am a 12 year old girl that lives in Kansas ,and I wanted to say that the 'Bible Bee has really been a blesing to me and my two sisters! This spring I was thinking,"I need to start memorizing the Bible more and meditating on it!" and then my mom told us about it and I was so happy! Thanks to everyone out there!I I have to say it has been a challenging thing to do, but is anything too hard for the Lord? Thank you again! |

The finish line (for this year's contest) is coming quickly! Do not be discouraged by the number of verses that you were not able to memorize, rather be encouraged by how many you have learned this year. There are many verses that I had not memorized previously, but now I have more of God's word hidden in my heart! Hebrews 12:1-2 says, "Therefore, since we are surronded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out before us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Run these last weeks with joy and perseverance! |

WOW ! What a blessing it is to BEE involved with the Bible Bee ! Spending several hours each day reading, studying or listening to some fantastic verses set to music has transformed our family life into MORE of living in HIS Word ! Of course, we shouldn't be surprised as we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds in Christ Jesus and the WORD is CHRIST ! I also cannot thank God enough for the excellent comrades HE has given us through this Bible Bee. Our Chairman is phenomenal in spirit and organization, fun and discipline. Other moms have done so much to support and encourage our students to continue to study and learn, such as one mom, who has set many, many songs to music! The Precept Ministry leaders, and our pastorl have been awesome to help our kids study the Word of God ! It has truly been a beautiful example of the gifts in the Body of Christ encouraging one another on to love and good deeds ! We are SOOOOO thankful for this opportunity to press into God's love letter to us, to see HIM more clearly and to know HIM more fully. What riches we have in CHRIST just waiting for us to discover ! THANK YOU BIBLE BEE leadership and staff for all that you are doing to spur us on to love and good deeds ! We are so grateful to God and for you ! OH my! I almost forgot to thank Mr. Phil Walker and Keith B. Smith. The tools that these two men have given us have been an invaluable help in memorizing and motivation ! We know that the Lord Himself will richly bless all of you that have from a pure heart desired to encourage all of us in knowing and loving the WORD of GOD ! Praise the Lord for all of these things !!! |

This whole experience has been such a blessing to our family. One of the boys from our church, is studying all the time and the other is really into application. So as the day goes on, he reminds others in the family, and himself, of the verse and asks if their attitude or mind are really in line with scripture, then he'll quote it. And the attitudes change, which means their hearts are changed. We have all learned so much, already. We could stop now and feel like we got our monies worth and the eternal investment has been wonderful for us! We are blessed to be a part of this event. |

I think this is the hardest I have ever worked in all my fourteen years! I will never again, in my life, spend so much time with a Creator who loves me so much! This Bible Bee will forever change my life and I don’t think my human mind will ever grasp that! I have never felt so loved by Him, such a longing to obey God, a desire to be like Him, and to bless others with this love! In short, I have never felt so close to touching God’s heart. |

To those who are nervous about the upcoming Bee, don't 'bee'! As it says in Joshua 1:9, GOd is with us where ever we are! He will be watching over all the contestants, and, what ever happens, know that it is His will! |

Because of one young woman who suffered in her body but soared in her spirit, many have been inspired to challenge the next generation to learn and love the Word as Miss Kennedy did. Are we going to accept that challenge and boldly live what we learn no matter what comes our way? I know that we are in the midst of a great challenge in the Bible bee, but in light of what is to come here on earth and in the light of eternity, what we are doing is a joy and a delight and a preparation for far more than reciting verses in front of judges. We are planting Holy seed in good soil and waiting for the harvest in the lives of our children—of far greater worth than filling in bubbles on a test sheet. What sort of perspective do we have? Does this challenge end on September 12 or November 6, or will we accept this challenge (parents and children) for as long as the LORD tarries? I commit to the latter and I encourage all who read these words to do the same. My son has a new attitude with which he studies. He has been writing out the scriptures to aid his memorization and we have been analyzing them to gain a better understanding of what they mean. He spends about 2 hours daily studying. The best part is that I rarely have to prompt him to do so. He wants to learn the Scriptures. If this challenge produces nothing else, we have already succeeded! Press on!!! |

We are a changed family since we started studying for the Bee. Every day is filled with God's awesome and life changing word. I have memorized 156 passages! Of course, I have a lot of review to do to keep them in my head. I hit a wall about passage 80, and I realized that I needed to start asking God what passage He wants me to learn each day. I am learning to ask for His help and His wisdom for my life. I realize that God has something special for me and my family every day through His Word. Thanks Bible Bee! We are excited about September 12! |

While at work my second and third sons were reciting verses during a phone conversation with my wife. The verses went right through me!!! These are the most powerful verses when it comes to inspiring a person to know that our team - the Church is the most valuable organization there is. God's Word is alive and active! I gave my life to Jesus thirty-two years ago, and I thought my honeymoon with Jesus was finished. WRONG!!! My kids have reactivated that experience by way of this Bible Bee! I am so blessed to be in it! I sense God's presence especially in the selection of the verses I've read so far. How about you? |

I manage to listen to listen to my daughter quote her verses about every 2-3 days. One day last week, I was lying on my bed listening to her quote, for about an hour, and it was such a soothing balm to my spirit, to listen to and think about some of the different phrases that were being repeated. It was certainly a blessing to me. I hope and pray that all other families are being encouraged and blessed as they work through the materials themselves. |

On September 12th 2008, my husband and I stood next to an MRI machine for 3 hours and realized something was very wrong. What should have been a simple MRI for back pain lead to a diagnosis of Cancer for our 9 year old son. I could never have imagined then that exactly one year from that date, September 12, 2009, the anniversary of his diagnosis would be spent participating in the Bible Bee. I know God had my son CJ in mind years ago when your planning committee set the calendar. As a testimonial of how the Bible Bee has helped us so far is that we are able to spend much of our time on our way to and from chemotherapy appointments working on our memory verses instead of consumed with fear or worry. It has also been a great witness for the nurses to catch us working on or reciting our verses. Thank you Bible Bee! www.georgefamilyblog.com |

A little bit every day goes a long way. That's the motto our family has adopted with this first ever National Bible Bee Study Material. We are spending about a half an hour each day together as a family of 6. We giggle, discuss, read, learn and enjoy each other while covering this great material. We are not only studying for the Bible Bee but are forging lifelong family memories and spiritual discipline habits. What a special blessing and opportunity. We praise God for this wonderful and motivating opportunity to know God better and to be prepared to be His ambassadors. Without it, I dare to say that our summer would've just flown by without any of this. Wow. Lead on Oh King Eternal! |

As soon as I saw the AD in the World Magazine, I knew I had to be involved. My husband and I talked about it it, ,and prayed and decided to host a bee in our area. We were blessed to find a host building and then have 126 kids sign up. Yes, the biggest concern has been the amount of information to work with. However, my biggest encouragement to the families and my kids is what an awesome opportunity to "feast on God's Word" this summer. We are in such need to fill our hearts and minds with Gods' Word! I cannot wait to hear the testimonies of our contestants. |

My husband and I are so pleased that our sons are both participating in the BEE and are studying daily and working together on the knowledge questions. My husband and I are also growing as we listen to their verses of our two boys. They have both chosen different Bible translations, therefore our sons are unable to listen to each other. I just wanted to take a moment to say that I think this is fantastic! Thank you all so very much for this awesome opportunity to excite my children about hiding God's word in their hearts. I am excited for this awesome opportunity. Teaching God's Word to my boys, helping them to come to place where they make Him and His Word their very own, is the best thing I can do for them. I thank God for all of you, for this tool, the Bible Bee. It is a motivating, encouraging way to help me reach my goal; saved, loving and devoted, active Christian young men. Know that in just making this available, you have helped this mom in raisng her kiddos to love and serve the Savior. May the Savior bless you for your goodness toward us. This is a faithful saying, that these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. Titus 3:8 |

We think the contest materials are perfect! My 12 year old already has memorized all of the "long" answers and the Bee Attitudes and references to them, and 6 passages of scripture, 4 from Cat. 2. She didn't even flinch when she saw the list...just started dividing it up and deciding how much to do in a day (she's kinda a special girl). My 8 year old didn't even know she could memorize and is doing well too. I think she will learn how to read better this summer. That's just 2 stories from my 5 children enrolled. We're having a group meeting in June to get the kids to know the Judges and Proctors. Should be fun! |

I just wanted to write and again say thank you so much for the incredible job you are doing with the Bible Bee. I am so praising God for you all. I was so blessed when I downloaded the Beeliever's Handbook. I have read how some are overwhelmed by the content. I was a bit surprised myself but rejoiced greatly to see such a comprehensive program. This is exactly the type of program we need to turn our nation around. Our family has been in other national programs where the content was very intense and very few made it to the top but are doing incredible things for the Lord. I encourage you not to change the depth of it in the future. We NEED a program like this in America. |

WOW!!! I thought the Bible Bee competition was an incredible idea from the start, but I've just downloaded the study materials and I feel like my family has just been given a gold mine LOADED with the mother lode of gold!!! What an incredible tool for a whole family to have in their hands. It is a fantastic set of materials for any parent to be able to teach to their family. Can you tell I'm excited??!! The cost of enrolling our 2 boys in the Bible Bee is a pittance compared to what we have just received in these outstanding Bible materials!! I'm so glad they extended the deadline to May 15th, because after seeing these materials I'm going to redouble efforts at promoting the Bible Bee. This material alone, if studied and lived out by every Christian family in America, could be the spark needed for a national revival! |

What an incredible resource for these families and children…for life. Many times over these last months we have talked about how the Bible Bee will help encourage families & children to not just learn verses by rote, but will help give them the tools to dig deep. The handbook can be filled in and these kids can keep them for LIFE…as a resource. It "forces" them to study the Word…to answer questions, to dig in the word THEMSELVES or with their parents…how excellent, exactly what we are trying to do as a family and as the Lord has said! |

Hardly anything in the last year has excited me as much as learning of the Bible Bee. As a child I learned many specific Scriptures. Some were for advancement in steps in the church program. Many were when my sister entered the Sword Drill and Daddy quizzed her nightly. Their voices carried through the house, and all of us learned those Scriptures. Through my adult life those very passages have comforted, instructed and supported me. Please, people, let's do anything we can to make this a great event and get our children excited about Scripture. It will do its own work. All we have to do is get them into it. |

After reading over this entire site and then coming to the very end of my registration I saw a link that said "Who is Shelby Kennedy?" Before I even clicked on it my heart started to pound. I said, "Lord, there is no way this is going to be in memory of a child with cancer." I hesitated a moment and then clicked and there was her picture. Before I even read the words I knew! You see my 9 year old son CJ was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2008. Since then we have been facing chemotherapy treatments and endless appointments. He has leaned on the Lord and His Word for strength and comfort. God has specifically used the memorization of scripture to prepare us and sustain us throughout this trial. This Bible Bee is such a blessing because one of the many downsides of having cancer is that we (we have four chidlren from ages 1-12) have had to limit our participation in many things because of the risk of infection to CJ. The Bible Bee provides us with a way to be a part of this great nationwide effort to study God's word and yet be "safe" while we study and prepare. We are so grateful and proud to be a part of Shelby's legacy. Thank you, Shelby, from another family in the fight against cancer. |

My heart is pounding after reading the information on this site. My two daughters have participated in the Junior Bible Quiz program here in Illinois. This year is my youngest daughters last year, as they can only quiz through the 6th grade. This has been a tough year, knowing i will no longer have a child in JBQ when the season is finished. My oldest daughter is a freshman in high school and has been out of JBQ for three years. Her last year quizzing she was on a team with her sister and they won the state championship in the "B" division, the second highest division. Having your children win a championship for Jesus is something you never get over. I think about that day all the time. Now both of my girls will have a program to study God's word and "compete" for Jesus until they are 18. Thank you, my spirit has ben lifted. |

It is very interesting how God works in great ways! I just started what I called "Verse Bee" in my youth group before I was alert of this great activity. Another youth leader sent me an email and then I was surprised that something like that is starting. I pray that success comes out of this great work and the children and youth learns a lot and becomes more knowledgable about God's word |

I'm so excited to "bee" a part of this new ministry. Our chairperson was sitting at a table after our Thursday night Bible study, talking to some others when I sat and listened in to what she was talking about. I remembered how our kids were in a Bible Quiz years ago, but what is a Bible Bee, I asked . When I found out, the Lord said, "This is IT !!!!" After being in the Royal Ranger Ministry for about 25 yrs. ..All this to say is that I can see this generation getting the Word and generations to come! That is why I'm so excited to "Bee"long to the Shelby Kennedy Foundation Ministry. Thank you, Lord, for those you bring across my path way each day. |

I recieved an e-mail from a friend and immediately took action to have a part in this endeavor. I know how the Lord works through His Word. To be able to challenge not just those who are in families or churches who promote Bible memorization but to be able to reach out to those who have no support and encourage them with this goal is an awesome opportunity. I thank you and look forward to seeing God's hand moving upon many lives for many years because of this opportunity. Let's get to work and reach as many young people as we can with his opportunity and see the fruit it will bear! |

This is an exciting program and I look forward to getting it going in my neck of the woods. The beauty of all this is that on September 27, 07, I had 6,600lbs of stainless steel bars fall on my head. They fell from about 15 feet high and about 12 feet away from me. The bundles of bars hit me in the head and pinned me up against more bars. While I was pinned under the steel I hunbly begged for forgiveness of all my sins and asked God to let me enter his kingdom. After saying 'amen' I remembered that I have children who need me so I shouted out "wait a minute God who's gonna take care of my kids?" After 45 minutes, EMS workers were able to get the steel off me and through Christ I was able to take 4 or 5 steps before EMS workers put on a cart. I suffered multiple skull fractures, several broken ribs, lacerated spleen, collapsed vertebrate (spine), broken fibula, and a dislocated ankle. Shortly after they started doing surgery on my brain, I went on a journey to the other side of this life where I was surrounded by the absolute brightest light and many familiar people hugging me and coming to greet me. Then a young man separated the group as he approached me and told me "not yet." The next thing I remember I was in a room and I could hear someone telling my mother and brothers that they should be contacting other family members because it wasn't likely that I would live through the weekend. I yelled out "don't listen to them!" Then I told them what I had seen and I knew I was going to be fine. While I was hospitalized I read my bible a lot and a scripture that I kept reading over and over was Luke 13:6-9. I finally realized the meaning of that scripture as it pertained to me and began to ask God to show me what I needed to do for him. I have been a through a lot during the last 15-16 months as far as recovery goes. Today I really believe God revealed a job for me, so today I praise God for the opportunity to serve him through your Bible Bee! |

As soon as I heard about the Bible Bee yesterday, I got on the phone to our local pastors and youth leaders. I am so excited about this! This will definitely make it easier to have the kids study the Word. I have two kids in the 7-10 age group, so this will be a part of their lives for the next ten years. Praise God for the Bible Bee and your foundation. Talk about raising up a chosen generation! |

As an Awana Commander, Bible memorization is close to my heart. Any opportunity to motive children to hide God's word in their heart gets me excited. I pray that this avenue is extremely sucsessful and becomes the new wave across the country. Imagine unsaved Moms and Dads getting scripture in their homes so their kid might win a contest. I think it is great! |

I still can't get over how exciting it is to have such a well organized, first-class Bible Bee with such outlandish prizes to inspire our young people to memorize God's Word. I love using the obvious value of money to help the next generation discover the less obvious value of God's eternal truth; a truth which claims to be worth much, much more than money or anything money can buy. We at Upton Lake Christian school are thrilled at the value the Shelby Kennedy Foundation is placing on Scripture memory and pray that God will use it to help all Christian schools invest heavily in making sure their students know Scripture. If you would like to learn and share ideas and resources (Scripture songs, Bible memory tips, etc.) on how best to prepare for this first ever national Bible Bee, I would love to hear from you. I just found out about this today. All I can say is PRAISE THE LORD!!! It is something I have been wishing for for many years. My older kids were involved in the Spelling Bee (one of them made it to the National Spelling Bee in D.C.) I always asked my husband, "why is there no Bible Bee?" He brought home a flyer today advertising this Bible Bee and I was literally jumping for joy and praising God. Our whole family is excited. We can't wait to get started. |

I am very excited to participate in this year's bible bee. I have always wanted to be part of something like this but never had the opportunity before. I have been part of something similar to this affiliated with my church but this seems to be much more in depth. It looks tough but will be a wonderful challenge for me to undertake. I can't wait for the material to become avaliable so I can start memorizing. I hope to advance to Nationals Lord-willing! |

I am SO excited that The SKF has offered this to our children! I am a homeschooling mother of 5 and see how vitally important it is for Bible to be part of their lives. This opportunity will help us engrave Him into their hearts! Before I could even finish asking our pastor for the opportunity to host a Local Competition at our church, he already told me "Yes!" Washington, D.C. had better get ready for 300 children ready to give the Power of our God as they speak the word and truth of God. D.C. won't know what hit them! |

Praise the LORD! It's about time we started something like this for our children. They are blasted with junk everyday and we need for them to know more about GOD. The very minute I heard about this "Bee," I got so excited . I thank you for making this possible. I already have the support of my first mom. I know there will be many more moms and dads that will join me in this most wonderful effort. Our children can make a difference if they have they right path to take. May God open the windows of Heaven and pour out His blessings, pressed down and running over. |

The Bible Bee has already been a blessing to my family and me. Studying a little bit of the Bible together already with my older girls has softened my heart again towards God. Times have been a little hard and I have had a hard time trusting God with the trial He has recently allowed for us, but His Word is such an encouragement to me, and He has used the Bible Bee to get me reading the Bible again. |

The excitement the Bible Bee has created in our home is wonderful. It has been a real answer to prayer. During the week before the Bible Bee announcement we had been in prayer, crying out to God for a way for people to learn of God's ways. A sticky note was attached to my computer monitor to write to Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis about a national "History Bee." This was on my mind because we know that real change and knowledge needs the wide angle focus of history from a Bible base. So, you can imagine the relief when we saw that Patrick Henry College was to help sponsor a Bible Bee. We look forward to hearing more. |

We are SO excited to host a Bible Bee in our area. We immediately called after seeing the ad on the HSDLA weekly update. This is an excellent opportunity to encourage our children to continue meditating on the Word, day & night. When we called both sets of our grandparents, they were delighted & so supportive...they even immediately wrote a check for all five of our children's entrance fees & the fee to host a Bee! We have forwarded the information to friends & family all over the country. We look forward to every step of the process, from prayer to support to practicing to competing...all to the glory of the Lord! "Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you." (Prov 4:5–6) Oh, that through this many, many children will learn His Word, ways, & live them! In prayer, through His strength, for His glory...Charge! |

How encouraging to see the yellow points on the map grow! Sometimes it seems as if we are a small minority in this country. I can't wait to see as our numbers grow. What this will do to the family of faith in Jesus! Let's show everyone how many of us there really are. I am so encouraged by the faithfulness of the others I have already heard from and read about since coming across this on HSLDA'S website. My children are excited but nervous to work on memorizing as much as we can. Scripture memorizing is fairly new to us and we are excited to take on the challenge. The best part about this Bible Bee is that everyone wins by having lots of God's Word in our hearts. Praise the LORD for the creators of the Bible Bee and their faithfulness. Go, Friends in Christ!!! |

My siblings and I have been memorizing the Word of God since we were tots. It has been the vehicle for developing the disclipline God desires in all areas of life. We are excited to be involved and hope to bring this to the attention of hundreds and to sponsor a local Bee if possible. I am so thankful to see the Sword of the Spirit being encouraged to help youth rightly handle the Word of Truth and to be ready to give an answer to any one who asks... with gentleness and reverence. Thank you! HIs word will not return void in all of our lives, bearing fruit in every good work as we obey His promptings in accordance with His Word rightly divided! |

Wow, I just finished a blog on the faith of our government leaders and was shocked on how little most of them knew about the Holy Word of God. This Bible Bee is fantastic! The Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, so that must mean that if we don’t have it, we are only stumbling around in darkness. Let His Light SHINE! |

Bible memory has been a passion of mine for so long.. I memorized daily for years with my own children and am now a director for a high school AWANA program in my church. Scripture is the single most significant truth to memorize. As my children were growing up and busily memorizing chapters of Scripture – I scratched for ways to reward them….I invited loving grandparents and surrogate grandparents over to listen to them recite; I enrolled them in fine arts presentations to recite – anything to reinforce in their little minds that this was significant. This is why I am so overjoyed that your organization is willing to actually give cash rewards that are truly substantial and that place an adult level value and endorsement of the task and of the effort involved in accomplishing it. |

Thank you! Thank you! for orchestrating a ministry like this that teaches our children to hide God's word in their hearts & to equip themselves with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. My great passion has been teaching my own children & others the Word of God through Scripture memorization, Bible Drills, & catechism . Unfortunately, it would seem that many in the church are woefully unfamiliar with their Bibles & often times, sadly, are uninterested. This is a desperate state. We need to pray that God will give His people a deep passion for His Word, that the church may be transformed by it. May God bless this ministry & may He be glorified in it. |

The unchurched in the USA in the early 60s knew Scripture much better than those in church today. I expect the Bible Bee to motivate many to reverse the sad state of Biblical illiteracy in our country. I've been dreaming about an event like this for several years. Thank you for being used by God to answer my prayers. The ad in World Magazine caught my eye as soon as I turned to the page. WOW! Talk about a needed emphasis!!! I am strongly considering involvement with this effort and encourage any Christian concerned about our young people being destroyed by a "lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6) to step up and be involved. Thanks, Bible Bee, for your great work! Hold on to the promise in Isaiah 55:11, 'God's Word will not return void!' |
